Fish Dinner

Roary Fishpouncer wants one Raw Darkwater Piranha for his specialty meal. Hunt the rare darkwater piranha in the Toxxulia Forest river, bring the raw fish back to Roary on Kerra Island, and receive the Kerran Fishing Spear. The spear itself is class-restricted, but its Enduring Breath Exaltation is usable by ALL classes.

One fish. One spear. The difficulty lies entirely in persuading a rare piranha to exist and then persuading it to contain the meat you require. A concise quest sabotaged by probability. Familiar territory.

1. Get the Fish Dinner task

  1. Find Roary Fishpouncer in the hut immediately inside Kerra Island, on the right, around 630.53, -675.76, 17.05.
  2. Hail Roary and ask about the `rrrare fish` to receive the Fish Dinner task.

2. Hunt the darkwater piranha

  1. Travel to Toxxulia Forest.
  2. Search the river between the Kerra Island entrance and the mainland for a darkwater piranha.
  3. Kill the large piranhas in the river while waiting for the rare darkwater piranha to appear. Current EQL documentation reports that any large piranha may serve as its placeholder.
  4. Continue until you loot 1 Raw Darkwater Piranha.
Old guides may direct you to Nektulos. Ignore them for EQL. Twenty-seven years of EverQuest documentation leaves fossils in inconvenient places; this particular fish now belongs in Toxxulia.

3. Bring Roary his dinner

  1. Return to Roary Fishpouncer on Kerra Island.
  2. Give him the Raw Darkwater Piranha.
  3. Receive Kerran Fishing Spear, experience, and +20 Kerra Isle faction according to current EQL documentation.
Your reward is a spear with an instant Enduring Breath effect. A fishing errand that leaves you better equipped to remain underwater. For once, there is thematic competence.

Tips from the Crypt

  • Stay in the Toxxulia river and clear large piranhas while waiting. The named fish and its drop can both require patience.
  • The current EQL task itself explicitly identifies Toxxulia Forest, which takes precedence over older P99/Firiona Vie-era guides that place the hunt in Nektulos.
  • This page intentionally does not carry forward older recharge advice for the spear because current EQL documentation does not establish that historical mechanic as necessary.
