Lynuga's Gem Collection

A wonderfully direct exchange by Norrathian standards: find the wandering troll Lynuga in Innothule Swamp, bring her Rubies, and receive one of three random rewards. On current EQL, Ivandyr's Hoop is no longer an ultra-rare jackpot; observed results put it in roughly the same neighborhood as Brutechopper and Midnight Mallet.

Rubies for Brutechopper, Midnight Mallet, or Ivandyr's Hoop, with none of the three currently behaving like a mythical once-in-a-century result. Better still, Rubies can be handed in as a stack. For once, mortal efficiency has infected a quest mechanic.

1. Buy your Ruby

  1. Purchase Rubies from a jewelry merchant. EQLWiki lists the cost at about 131 platinum each.
  2. Bring as many Rubies as you want to spend. On current EQL, they can be handed to Lynuga in stacks; you do not need to split them into individual one-Ruby hand-ins.
You are purchasing polished red stones so that a wandering troll may decide whether you deserve an artifact. I have seen stranger economies. Not many, but some.

2. Find Lynuga in Innothule Swamp

  1. Travel to Innothule Swamp and look for Lynuga, a wandering troll. Current EQL documentation says she is usually found near the entrance to Guk.
  2. Older classic references describe her route along the eastern side of the swamp between the Grobb side and the Guk area. Use that only as a search pattern if she is not immediately visible; current EQL behavior takes precedence.
  3. No dialogue is required for the practical turn-in. Hailing her and asking about collecting merely confirms her enthusiasm for Rubies.
She wanders, naturally. Search near the Guk approach first before beginning a grand expedition through every patch of swamp water.

3. Hand in the Rubies

  1. Give Lynuga one Ruby or a stack of Rubies. Current EQL accepts stacked Ruby turn-ins, so bulk attempts do not require repetitive one-at-a-time clicking.
  2. The possible rewards are Brutechopper, Midnight Mallet, and Ivandyr's Hoop.
  3. The turn-in also raises Broken Skull Clan faction and lowers Shadowknights of Night Keep and DaBashers faction.
  4. If you are hunting a particular reward, bring multiple Rubies and simply continue until the random rolls cooperate.

4. Know what you are gambling for

Brutechopper, Midnight Mallet, and Ivandyr's Hoop are all practical outcomes on current EQL. The Hoop is no longer meaningfully ultra-rare; current observations put its likelihood in roughly the same range as getting a Brutechopper or Mallet.

Midnight Mallet carries five charges of Walking Sleep on EQL, while Ivandyr's Hoop carries six charges of Spirit Tap. The quest still does not promise the item your build wants, but none of the three rewards should be treated as a lottery-grade anomaly anymore.

The Hoop is still the interesting relic here, but the age of sacrificing a geological formation of Rubies for one sighting appears to be over. Bring a stack, make your offerings, and let probability do its less-dramatic work.

Tips from the Crypt

  • If Lynuga is not near the Guk entrance, search the eastern side of Innothule before assuming she is absent.
  • The Ruby itself is the only required quest item. There are no prerequisite subquests hiding beneath the floorboards.
  • Use stacked Ruby turn-ins when making multiple attempts. There is no gameplay advantage to splitting every Ruby into a separate hand-in on current EQL.
  • Do not budget for Ivandyr's Hoop as though it were still ultra-rare. Current EQL observations place it much closer to the normal reward frequency of Brutechopper and Midnight Mallet.
  • Legacy sources are useful for Lynuga's route and historical context, but their old reward-rarity assumptions and duplicate-LORE turn-in warnings are obsolete for current EQL.
