Soldier's Brooch Quest

Hunt one compact enemy camp in Rathe Mountains, collect four insignias, and deliver one of each to Gaz Commander Faltip. The current EQL reward window lets you choose from eight different Soldier's Brooch RANGE-slot rewards.

The Unburied Scholar's Appraisal

Four insignias from one camp, then a reward you may actually choose. The developers have committed an alarming act of mercy. There are eight brooches, each aimed at a different martial or magical temperament. Select deliberately; shiny objects deserve standards.

1. Find Gaz Commander Faltip

Find Gaz Commander Faltip in Rathe Mountains around -1576, -255.
You may speak with him for the quest context, but current EQL documentation confirms you can farm the four insignias before talking to him.

2. Farm the insignia camp

Travel to approximately +1187, +2479 in Rathe Mountains. All four required enemy types are found at this camp.
Kill A Troll Greenblood and loot 1 Troll Greenblood Insignia.
Kill A Troll Marauder and loot 1 Troll Basher Insignia.
Kill A Tier'Dal Spellbinder and loot 1 Tier'Dal Arcane Insignia.
Kill A Tier'Dal Priest and loot 1 Tier'Dal Priest Insignia.

All four targets occupy the same camp. No continent crossing, no wandering hermit, no key required to obtain another key. I distrust such efficiency, but we should exploit it while it lasts.

3. Turn in all four insignias

Return to Gaz Commander Faltip around -1576, -255.
Give him one of each of the four insignias.
Current EQL documentation records +5 Protectors of Gukta faction and experience for the completion.
The quest reward window opens. Choose the Soldier's Brooch that suits your build.

4. Choose your Soldier's Brooch

Wizard-oriented: Soldier's Brooch of the Arcane.
Shadow Knight-oriented: Soldier's Brooch of the Corrupt.
Necromancer-oriented: Soldier's Brooch of the Darkened.
Cleric-oriented: Soldier's Brooch of the Robust.
Shaman-oriented: Soldier's Brooch of the Spirited.
Warrior-oriented: Soldier's Brooch of the Stalwart.
Monk/Rogue-oriented: Soldier's Brooch of the Stealthy.
Paladin-oriented: Soldier's Brooch of the Virtuous.

Eight choices. Examine the item cards and take the one that serves your actual build rather than whichever adjective sounds most heroic. Artifacts should be selected with more rigor than tavern names.

Requirements

There is no longer a level 30 requirement. Soldier's Brooch rewards can be equipped starting at level 1.
1 Troll Greenblood Insignia from A Troll Greenblood.
1 Troll Basher Insignia from A Troll Marauder.
1 Tier'Dal Arcane Insignia from A Tier'Dal Spellbinder.
1 Tier'Dal Priest Insignia from A Tier'Dal Priest.
All four target types are found together around +1187, +2479 in Rathe Mountains.

Warnings

The August 18, 2026 EQL update changed the quest so the reward window lets the player choose which brooch to receive.
Do not hard-code an old primary-class reward assumption. Current EQL allows selection at turn-in.
The four insignias have similar names. Verify that you have one Greenblood, one Basher, one Tier'Dal Arcane, and one Tier'Dal Priest insignia before leaving the camp.

Farm a complete four-insignia set before returning to Gaz. The targets being co-located makes this unusually painless.
The official August 18, 2026 patch note is the authority for the modern reward-selection behavior: the player now chooses the reward.
Current community reporting describes the quest as repeatable, but the core guide does not depend on that claim. The confirmed behavior documented here is the four-insignia turn-in followed by an eight-choice reward window.
