Trueshot Longbow Quest

Gather two Dwarven Wires, two Micro Servos, Wooden Shards, and Spiderling Silk, then use Maesyn Trueshot's Material Pack to obtain a Treant Bow Staff. A final trivial-235 Fletching combine produces the Trueshot Longbow, the Ranger bow required later for Rain Caller Quest.

The Unburied Scholar's Appraisal

A proper Ranger weapon assembled from dwarven wire, clockwork scraps, treant wood, spider silk, and enough Fletching skill to turn the entire pile into something that does not immediately explode. More coherent than many legendary weapons, which is not saying much.

1. Receive the Material Pack from Maesyn Trueshot

  1. Travel to Kelethin in Greater Faydark and find Maesyn Trueshot in the Ranger guild around -451, 520, 116.
  2. Reach Amiable or better faction with Maesyn. At Indifferent he will discuss the quest, but current EQL says he will not hand you the pack until Amiable.
  3. Hail Maesyn, ask about `Trueshot longbows`, then tell him `I will gather materials`.
  4. Receive the 4-slot Material Pack.
If Maesyn happily explains the entire quest but refuses to produce the container, the missing component is probably faction rather than dialogue creativity.

2. Obtain two Dwarven Wires

  1. Travel to North Kaladim and find Trantor Everhot wandering in the city.
  2. Acquire 4 Tumpy Tonics total. Current EQL says they can be obtained from Tumpy Irontoe or brewed; the direct quest page lists the Brewing recipe as Kiola Nut + Water Flask, trivial 135.
  3. Give Trantor 2 Tumpy Tonics unstacked to receive 1 Dwarven Wire.
  4. Repeat with another 2 Tumpy Tonics for the second Dwarven Wire.
  5. Keep both wires. One is consumed in the Material Pack stage and the second is required in the final bow combine.

3. Trade Small Lanterns to Jyle Windshot for Wooden Shards

  1. Travel to West Freeport and find the West Freeport version of Jyle Windshot. The East Freeport version is for a different quest.
  2. Make sure Jyle regards you at Amiable or better.
  3. Buy Small Lanterns from a convenient merchant and give them to Jyle one at a time.
  4. Jyle will usually give Wooden Shards, identified as Treant Wood Shards. Occasionally he instead gives A Wooden Heart.
  5. Continue until you have 1 Wooden Shards for each Trueshot attempt you plan to make. Save any Wooden Heart for Rain Caller Quest.
A wooden shard is the common result. A wooden heart is the rarer result and is needed for Rain Caller. This is one of the few occasions where receiving the 'wrong' quest item is actually a favor. Keep it.

4. Gather Spiderling Silk and two Micro Servos

  1. Obtain 1 Spiderling Silk from spiderlings or other appropriate spider mobs.
  2. Travel to Steamfont Mountains and destroy rogue clockworks for Micro Servos.
  3. Collect at least 2 Micro Servos for each complete bow attempt: one for the Material Pack and one for the final Fletching combine.
  4. If your Fletching skill is well below the 235 trivial, collect extra servos and the other consumable components before leaving the area.

5. Build the Pack of Materials and obtain the Treant Bow Staff

  1. Inside Maesyn's Material Pack, combine 1 Dwarven Wire + 1 Wooden Shards + 1 Spiderling Silk + 1 Micro Servo.
  2. The combine produces a Pack of Materials.
  3. Return to Maesyn Trueshot in Kelethin and give him the Pack of Materials.
  4. Receive a Treant Bow Staff, the key component for the final Fletching combine.

6. Fletch the Trueshot Longbow

  1. Use a Fletching Kit for the final combine.
  2. Combine 1 Treant Bow Staff + 1 Dwarven Wire + 1 Micro Servo + 1 Planing Tool.
  3. The combine is Fletching trivial 235.
  4. On success, receive Trueshot Longbow, a Ranger-only 20 damage / 45 delay bow with range 100.
  5. Keep the bow if you intend to continue into Rain Caller Quest; Rain Caller consumes a Trueshot Longbow as a prerequisite component.
The final combine is where optimism meets a 235 trivial. Bring spare consumables if your skill is low. The bow is worth making once; repeating the entire supply chain because you brought exactly one attempt is a preventable tragedy.

Tips from the Crypt

  • For each planned attempt, think in complete sets: 2 Dwarven Wires, 2 Micro Servos, 1 Wooden Shards, and 1 Spiderling Silk. The Planing Tool can be reused.
  • Buy several Small Lanterns before visiting Jyle. Hand them in one at a time and stop only after you have enough Wooden Shards for your planned attempts.
  • Save every A Wooden Heart Jyle gives you. Rain Caller Quest requires one, so obtaining it during Trueshot avoids repeating the Freeport lantern run later.
  • If you are attempting Trueshot at unusually low level or low Fletching skill, gather several complete material sets before making the final combine. Current EQL community guides specifically recommend stockpiling attempts rather than trusting one roll.
