Vampire Teeth

A compact Mistmoore quest with an inconvenient pair of teeth at its center. Hunt Maid Issis and Butler Syncall for their fangs, find an avenging caitiff on the jail-to-torture-room stairs, and give him both fangs for Electrum-Bladed Wakizashi. Rangers pursuing Call of Flame Quest need the wakizashi as one of that quest's final components.

The Electrum-Bladed Wakizashi is a lean 7/21 blade with no ornamental statistics to distract you. Its greater importance is bureaucratic: Ganelorn Oast demands it for Call of Flame Quest. Two vampire fangs for one electrum blade, followed by another quest demanding the blade. Norrath remains committed to layered paperwork.

1. Hunt Maid Issis and Butler Syncall

  1. Travel into Mistmoore Castle and reach the servant rooms on the castle's upper level.
  2. Camp Maid Issis around (-340, -90). Current EQL data lists her as a level 35 Necromancer.
  3. Kill Maid Issis until you obtain Maid Issis Fang.
  4. Camp Butler Syncall around (-318, -110). Current EQL data lists him as a level 35 Shadow Knight.
  5. Kill Butler Syncall until you obtain Butler Syncalls Fang.
The quest is simple. The castle is not. Two servants, two fangs, and however many kills the loot tables demand before they remember why you came. Settle in.

2. Find an avenging caitiff

  1. With both fangs in hand, locate an avenging caitiff in Mistmoore Castle.
  2. Current EQL NPC data places his spawn around (-148, 292) and notes that he patrols the stairs connecting the jail and torture room. The quest walkthrough also describes him in the underground passage beneath Ssynthi's crypt, near roughly (-75, +320). Search the stair route rather than expecting him to remain politely on one coordinate.
  3. No dialogue is required for the practical hand-in, though asking about the electrum-bladed wakizashi, his mother, and his father reveals the quest context.

3. Turn in both fangs

  1. Give Maid Issis Fang and Butler Syncalls Fang to an avenging caitiff.
  2. Receive Electrum-Bladed Wakizashi.
  3. The caitiff despawns after the successful turn-in.
A clean exchange, at last. Two fangs vanish, one electrum blade appears, and the caitiff departs before anyone can invent a fourth conversational keyword. Efficient enough to be suspicious.

4. How this relates to Call of Flame

Vampire Teeth is a standalone quest that directly rewards Electrum-Bladed Wakizashi. Call of Flame Quest is a separate Ranger quest that later requires that wakizashi as one of four items handed to Ganelorn Oast.

In other words: Vampire Teeth creates the blade; Call of Flame consumes it. The Electrum-Bladed Wakizashi is not a reward from Call of Flame, despite older 'Related quests' metadata sometimes making the relationship appear that way.

Tips from the Crypt

  • If Call of Flame is your real objective, complete Vampire Teeth before returning to Ganelorn with the other final components. The wakizashi is the only true subquest dependency in that stage.
  • Maid Issis and Butler Syncall are in nearby servant rooms, so work both camps in the same Mistmoore trip rather than treating them as separate expeditions.
  • The current EQL quest page gives approximate servant-room coordinates around (-339, -67) for Maid Issis and (-315, -112) for Butler Syncall; the current NPC pages place them very close to those values.
  • Do not build plans around a precise 5% fang rate. Current EQL pages are internally inconsistent on the exact odds, and accuracy is preferable to false precision.
